Tuesday
About 274 million migrants live in cities across the country. One in three people in the southern province of Guangdong are migrants from elsewhere in China. We pray for wisdom and compassion of Jesus for churches in cities, knowing how to care and minister believers from villages, so they will not be lost without shepherd. We too pray for those working in cities, they will not stop worship and fellowship in churches.
Wednesday
Many are alarmed by how quickly China churches are becoming secularized, people see churches a social gathering place especially after retirement. Also, churches are not transparent in its finance, causing believers to be cynical and not willing to be involved. We pray for revival of His churches, protection of those who love and serve Him. We ask God to corrupt the attacks of cults and punish the evil servants who treat the House of God as their own enterprise.
Thursday
The population of migrant workers in Guangdong Province is almost twenty millions, they come from Hunan, Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Henan, these six provinces accounted for more than eighty percent of all migrant workers. We pray for Hong Kong churches will seize the opportunity to share gospel to workers in use Guangdong, because many migrant workers return to their hometowns, as a way to reach provinces in the inland China.
Friday
In 2012, nearly 60 percent of China's migrant population is 16-40 year old male. Four-fifths of migrant workers have completed at least secondary education. In 2010, the vast majority of construction workers and coal miners are migrant workers. The trend of finding work in the cities will continue. So, we pray churches in the cities will show sincerity in accepting believers from the villages, even though there are cultural and educational differences, but we are all members of the Body of Christ, to love one another.
Saturday
China’s central government allocate funding for welfare and social services base on the number of residents with household registration, which totally exclude all the migrants residing in the town or cities. It is a fact that majority of rural Christians cannot find a spiritual home in the cities, stop attending church, or lost in sins without help. We pray for God’s mercy, giving churches practical ways to help rural believers lost in the cities.
Sunday
City governments lack the funding to provide medical care and education for migrant workers in their cities, to cover those expenses, cities become overly reliant on selling land-use rights and borrowing. Rural Christians who moved to cities for works find city church cold and unwelcoming. Many cannot even find churches. We pray that church leaders will lead their people to care for migrant workers, and even start worship catering to the migrants in their community.
Monday
The wealth gap between Chinese urban and rural areas has increased over the last three decades. By 2012, people in cities will earn 3.1 times if those in the rural areas. We praise the Lord for the numerical growth China churches have experienced in the past 30 years, but we ask the Lord for how churches need to help believers grow spiritually, so we will have dedicated, victorious believers who would shine in this crooked age.

Prayer Request 12/22 - 12/28
Tuesday
Next to the Spring Festival, Christmas is easily the second most-celebrated festival of all for young people in China. Among those who are fifteen to forty-five years old, it is extremely trendy to celebrate it as a carnival. Pray for all of those in China who celebrate Christmas only as a reason to party but do not know Jesus as their personal Savior. We pray that more people in China will come to know that Jesus is the answer to the hunger in their hearts.
Wednesday
There are Christmas decorations and celebrations on just about every street corner in China now. It is "the thing" for young people to give gifts and go to parties held in hotels, restaurants, bars or KTV's. Many churches also hold special Christmas services and outreach programs. We pray for all of those who attend the Christmas services in the churches. May each one gain a deeper understanding of the gospel and be drawn closer to the Lord and may many be saved.
Thursday
Eating apples is an uniquely Chinese custom when it comes to celebrating Christmas. Apple has the same pronunciation as peace in Mandarin. People believe they will have peace in the new year by eating an apple. Praise God that many Chinese Christians and foreign believers living in China will take the opportunity to explain more about what Christmas really means when they invite their friends to their homes and get to share the true meaning of Christmas with them.
Friday
On Christmas Eve, nearly all of the state-approved churches will be packed as thousands queue up for midnight mass or to watch the services on the outside monitors. Many will be there for the first time, drawn by the crowds. It is indeed a rare time of the year when churches in China become a public focus. May the Holy Spirit move turning spectators into seekers of the gospel. We pray that the seed of the gospel will find soft soil and grow during this Christmas season.
Saturday
In China, all of the heresies or cults, such as Eastern Lightning, came out of orthodox Christianity. Many rural believers are so poorly educated and lack proper knowledge of the Bible so they cannot distinguish between truth and heresies. Rural churches in China are fraught with extreme teachings and cults. The rural churches have many weak ignorant believers and we pray the Lord will give them under shepherds to protect them.
Sunday
It is common in rural churches in China to hear someone suddenly exclaim, "I am related to Jesus, and Jesus told me...." this phenomenon is not only common and considered spiritual, it also goes unchallenged and accepted which causes a big problem. May the Lord have mercy on every rural church and grant them a discerning spirit especially the untrained believers as well as the undiscerning and weak shepherds.
Monday
Many Christian businessmen in China are confused about the difference between "ministry" and "business", and how to separate them. We pray for God's own cleansing of His churches so believers never see members of their church as customers or worse, their distributors. In recent years China has been in an economic boom and God has raised up many Christian businessmen and fellowship groups for them. However, undeniably, the devil also has his hands on those wealthy Christians.
許多基督徒商人分不清「Ministry(事奉)」與「Business(商業)」的差異,有時會把兩者混淆在一起。

Prayer Request 12/15 - 12/21
Tuesday
Under China's one-child policy, parents naturally spend their money to buy an apartment or car for their only child so real estate and booming car sales are closely tired so the number of marriages. We pray for parents who are believers that the Lord will help them to lead their families to fear and serve God and that they themselves will be models of true Christians to their children.
Wednesday
In contrast to the twenty-year old in major Asian cities, those in China pay more attention to quality brand names, and service rather than the cost of merchandise. Churches have not appealed to and integrated the young people in China because of their traditions. We pray older believers and church leaders will know how to pass on the baton of faith and not become a stumbling stone for young believers.
Thursday
When young Chinese make a purchase, the important factors are product quality (27.5%), brand name (25.5%), performance (15%), ease of purchase (12.5%), and service (11 %). Older Chinese are frugal so the churches are utilitarian and thrifty by nature which is not appealing to today's youth. We pray that church leaders will be willing to understand the young people and make adjustments to attract them to church.
Friday
Most companies make the mistake of thinking consumers in China want cheap goods but those who are in their twenties (especially women) spend half of their disposable income and detest cheap merchandise. To be honest, many of the ideas which older Chinese believers insist on are not Biblical but rather come from culture and tradition. We pray that churches will understand God's desire, not insist on "a spiritual appearance", and be more like the young people as they pursue truth.
Saturday
When purchasing shampoo, young consumers in China will first exclude all the cheap brands and only then make their selection from all of the higher priced brands. Churches in China give the impression of insisting that young people should obey the elders rather than obeying God. We pray the Lord will remind us, especially the leaders, not to ask for respect from church member but to be examples of humility and love to God.
Sunday
Chinese young people use the price of a merchandise as a benchmark for quality. They hate bargains and are leery of food safety concerns in China, "Quality cannot be cheap.” We praise God because churches in China are getting younger but today's youth think differently from their elders. We pray for more young leaders in the churches and that older leaders will know how to cultivate the young people and know how to let go and allow the younger ones to flourish.
Monday
Believers need teaching from the church to grow and know God's will for their lives. Churches in China greatly need teaching on building Christian families and holiness in their daily lives. Teaching for believers takes a long time. We pray that the churches will have systematic teaching designed to equip believers with truth and exemplified before them so they will not become hypocritical Pharisees.

Prayer Request 12/8 - 12/14
Tuesday
China actually has fifteen cities with more than ten million people each, including all the migrant workers and suburban residents. We focus our prayer time on these mega cities today and pray that prosperity will not rob the church of its impetus to share the gospel with others.
Wednesday
In 1980 only nineteen percent of the people in China lived in cities but by 2020 that figure might reach sixty percent. Migrant workers from rural areas or other smaller cities already account for about half of China's urban population. Let us praise God for the amazing growth of urban churches in China even though many hidden problems still exist. We ask God to help the city churches not to become secularized and that believers will be bold and fervent in sharing the gospel.
Thursday
There are more than six hundred cities in China with a population of more than a million people. Urbanization in China has turned out to be the biggest challenge the rural churches face due to the huge migration of people into the cities. Churches in rural areas have not adapted and started new churches for their members who are working in the cities so they keep losing their young people. We pray that no churches will be complacent, just taking comfort in maintaining the status quo but that they will be urgent in their outreach to new people.
Friday
Many Christians in China have gone to the cities but were unable to find jobs so they have fallen into sin. Some of the sisters have even turned to prostitution. Many Christian couples have broken up because they went to different cities or became so busy in their work. We pray for wisdom and discernment to know God's will so all of us put the Lord Jesus first in our lives and seek His kingdom and His righteousness first of all.
Saturday
House churches in China have many problems in getting an official registration and some are rejected outright because of their lack of transparency and some churches do not even consider registering with the government. In China, a lack of transparency in finances or administration has always plagued the house churches. May the Lord have mercy and give the churches the unity they need as to know whether to register or not. We pray that the leaders will be selfless and humble and not consider the church as their own little kingdom.
Sunday
Many pastors in the house churches are not healthy because their churches are not healthy. Some of the pastors take the offerings for their own personal use or even gambling because of a lack of accountability. There are also many poor pastors. We have faith that God can transform the churches in China using the leaders and pastors. We pray the Holy Spirit will make us humble, cleanse us, and give us new hearts so we will each one be blameless and not bring shame to God's name.
Monday
Many leaders of house churches in China practice nepotism by rejecting those who are called by God and have received theological training abroad. They do not allow them to return to their own churches to serve God. Too many church leaders see the church as their own enterprise so they must make all of the decisions. We pray that none of us will be jealous of the spiritual gifts of another but will be gracious and empower others to serve the Lord.

Prayer Request 12/1 - 12/7
Tuesday
In China, there is much inequality in the opportunity for education in different areas. One research report showed that an applicant from Beijing is forty-one times more likely to be admitted to Peking University than a fellow student from the province of Anhui which is largely poor and rural. Churches often lack vision and direction in their ministry with youth and some have simply given up because of various difficulties. May the Lord help us not to forsake caring for young believers and considering them less important than others because they cannot contribute financially.
Wednesday
Even an urban residency status does not ensure educational equality among city dwellers in China. The quality of urban schools varies widely and the competition to enter top schools has spawned rampant corruption. In Beijing churches started youth ministry only a few years ago and usually they began with fewer than twenty young people. We praise God for these churches and ask Him to use them to mobilize more churches to care for the spiritual health of the young believers who attend.
Thursday
Although elementary schooling in China is supposed to be free, parents must still pay tens of thousands of dollars under the guise of "voluntary donations" to secure a slot for their children in an elite elementary school. Christian parents in China want good Sunday school programs for their children but few are willing to be trained to serve as a teacher themselves. We pray that more parents will answer the call to serve as teachers of God's love.
Friday
Although it is frowned on by the authorities, parents in China who can pay well to hire teachers for their children can help their children get an advantage over the average student, and many do this. Christian parents tend to emphasize high grades, top notch schools, and the health of their children more than teaching them to live a spiritual life. May the Lord have mercy on us so we do not honor our children more than we honor Him. (I Samuel 2:29)
Saturday
The educational system in China has always placed a large emphasis on test scores but now it is dependent on the costs of their "cramming" lessons, the years their parents have toiled in cities to get a residency permit, and the admission quotas universities allot to the provinces. Many churches simply give up on having a ministry for children because they have neither the vision nor the resources to start one. We pray that churches will get seriously involved in caring for the spiritual health of their youth and children before they completely stop attending church.
Sunday
According to statistics there are some 8000-9000 house churches in Beijing but fewer than twenty of them have any form of youth ministry. There are only a few so-called youth workers and none of the full-time pastors is dedicated to youth work. Many churches try to minister to their youth, but they do not really know how to begin. We pray for a unity of parents and leaders as they search for ways to be more effective in helping young people walk close to Jesus.
Monday
Those who are involved in youth ministry in China have no training for such work. They are usually high school graduates in the city churches and those in the rural churches have only a junior high education. We pray for more courses to teach people how to do youth ministry, teaching them how to develop a relationship with young people as a friend and mentor rather than the traditional role of a teacher. May the Lord empower each one to be able to influence the lives of their youth with their own and His love.

Prayer Request 11/24 - 11/30
Tuesday
Since the government of China feels it should distribute quotas across provinces and cities, this works against rural provinces with a large population like Henan. We pray for all of the young people in the churches who are studying for the college entrance examination since they usually stop attending church even at the beginning of high school. We ask the Lord to strengthen their faith, help them to be able to prioritize their lives, and honor God above all.
Wednesday
The central government of China allots a larger portion of the quota of students who can go to a university to the big cities so the population there will remain content since they feel this is more important politically. Many Christians also feel that the urban churches are more important than rural ones are on many levels. God loves everyone no matter who we are or where we live. We pray for His grace and salvation for every person in China whether he/she is from a city or from the country.
Thursday
Most of the top universities in China are in Shanghai or Beijing and they prefer to give more of their slots for students to local people. The household registration system in China means that people cannot freely move from one area to another to get into a better school. Some Christians are unable to get their children into a "good" school because of the restrictions imposed by the household registration system. We pray that God will provide for them by opening doors because of their persistent faith in Him.
Friday
Beijing University, the elite university in China allocated eighty-five spots for the 758,000 students from Henan in 2013 which came to a recruitment rate of 0.01%. However, it accepted 226 (out of 73,000) students from Beijing, a rate of 0.31%. Those who study in the universities in Beijing are considered elite students. We pray for people in each of the college fellowships in Beijing. May the Lord grant them spiritual growth and even call some to serve Him in full-time ministries.
Saturday
Official statistics show that in 2014, 24.8% of the students who applied from Beijing were accepted into top universities in China while for Henan province only 6.9% and for Sichuan province only 5.5% were accepted. In China inequality of educational opportunities is a fact. We pray for young believers who are not in the big cities. May the Lord give them faith realizing that His plan is greater than our plan and God can accomplish what we cannot.
Sunday
One reason many good students in Henan forgo the gaokao (college entrance exam) is that the poor odds of their being admitted into a top school since are so poor since students from big cities like Beijing can get into the same school with a lower score. Let us pray for those young Christians who have done their best but are still unable to get into good universities. We pray that their faith will not falter and that they will hang on to the promise of God not to forsake them in any circumstance.
Monday
Unequal university admission is one reason wealthy parents in Henan and similar areas often send their children studying abroad, if they feel the chance of entering a prestigious university is not good. Last year, 459,800 Chinese study abroad, an increase of 11.1% from 2013. Many Christian parents worry about their children’s college education, academic performance and the costs. May the Lord hear their prayer, add to their faith, so they will know that the Lord has the best plan for all who honor and love Him.

Prayer Request 11/17 - 11/23
Tuesday
Henan province in central China is mostly a flat expanse of fields, towns and villages whose one hundred million people are sometimes looked down on by the rest of China as "bumpkins". However, Henan is probably the one province in China with the most Christian people living there. We remember the great revival of the Holy Spirit Who worked there. We pray today for the renewal of the church in Henan and that the Lord will save the people there from vicious attacks by the cults.
Wednesday
Adding to the humiliation of the people in Henan, the Chinese government has skewed opportunities away from them in the area which means so much to Chinese people--getting their children into universities. Historically, the believers in Henan are poorer and less educated than people in other areas of China which causes them to be less deeply rooted in Biblical teachings and it has been easy for them to fall into heresies. We pray for solid Bible teaching there and especially for those who aren't well-educated.
Thursday
People in Henan have long complained that funds for education and openings in the universities have been tilted away from them and other large crowded provinces in favor of the wealthier and more privileged parts of the country, especially Beijing and Shanghai. We praise God for the rise of urban churches in China that have added many well-educated believers and we pray for wisdom for the churches to know how to disciple them and that they will not neglect believers with less education like those in Henan in teaching them to live out the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Friday
China's system of university recruitment is just one way in which inequity and political favoritism undercut the government's vows to deliver equal treatment to all citizens, creating an enormous chasm between villages and cities. We don't know the future of the rural churches in China but the sheer numbers of people in rural areas cannot be ignored as a mission field. We pray for better strategies to help the rural church grow and disciple more believers.
Saturday
The vicious cycle of inequality of education persists for the people in Henan so they feel that it is better to be born in the city than in the countryside, better to be born in Beijing than Henan. We pray for rural believers not to feel discouraged or doomed, but rather ask the Lord to use their children, knowing God has His wonderful plan for all of them, and He will use those who are willing and faithful.
Sunday
Educational inequality riles many Chinese families because they see education, especially getting admitted to a prestigious university, as an escape from a hard, uncertain life for both themselves and their children. Many parents see the success of their children’s education as their ticket to a good life and retirement. We pray for those believers who are disappointed in this aspect, and ask the Lord to remind, comfort and instill in us all, how to raise children to love God, the way He intended.
Monday
Under China's Intensely competitive and stressful system of exams to get into a university, each province and each city (such as Beijing) sets its own cut-off score for the exam. So when students apply to a school, they are not guaranteed to get in if they are past the cut-off number. We pray for all of the high school students in the churches as they face such immense pressure from their parents and the college entrance exams. May the Lord grant them strength, wisdom, and grace to persevere at this difficult time.

Prayer Request 10/27 - 11/2
Tuesday
The most polluted provinces in China according to a recent poll were Henan, Hubei and Hebei. Beijing ranked fourth. All of those areas have heavy industrial factories that rely on burning coal. Vehicle exhaust also contributes to pollution. Prosperity theology is polluting many churches in China with believers seeking God only for blessings, health, and wealth. We pray that each of us would seek to follow Jesus and participate in the suffering of His cross.

We pray that each of us would seek to follow Jesus and participate in the suffering of His cross.
Thursday
The three cleanest cities in China,in order, were all in the far west: Linzhi in Tibet, Lijiang in Yunnan Province and Altay in Xinjiang. Prosperity theology teaches "name it and claim it", all you need is have enough faith. We pray that we do not twist the Bible, taking God's promise out of context to satisfy our needs.
Friday
A new law in China give employees a paid annual leave. Those who have worked a year but fewer than ten years get a 5-day leave. Those who have worked ten years but fewer than twenty, get a 10-day leave--all in addition to national holidays. As more and more people travel on their vacations, it will be harder to have plan church events for the whole church. We pray for ministries in the church that there will be planning and participation by more of the members.
Saturday
In 2008 a survey showed that 76% of the respondents in China had a desire to retire (the highest in Asia). The official age for retirement is 50 (female) and 55 (male). Many believers in China say they will serve God more after they retire. We pray this will not be a mere empty promise but that they will learn to serve with their spiritual gifts. We also pray that leaders in the church will find ways to encourage people to serve.
Sunday
According to a new survey of “stress level”, China is number one and Hong kong the fourth in the world. Shanghai and Beijing are leading cities for being “most stressful”. Church life in Shanghai and Beijing can also be described as “hurried”, “rushed for time”. We pray for the caring ministries in these urban churches, and for the spiritual health of believers so they would not be merely “Sunday Christians”.
Monday
Official report says that 25% of Chinese women have experienced domestic abuse. Almost 40% of Chinese women who are in a relationship or are married have experienced some form of abuse. Pray that social attitudes towards domestic violence would continue shifting and that awareness of rights would increase.

Prayer Request 10/20 - 10/26
TuesdayIn urban churches in China, there are the following major groups of believers: college students and young intellectuals or professionals, middle-aged or older traditional believers, those who are laid off and migrant workers. We praise God for the growth of churches in cities, and we pray for pastors who can minister to people of vastly different backgrounds, especially those who are young and highly educated.
Wednesday
College students and young intellectuals are often open-minded but ask difficult and probing questions about the meaning of life. When they are invited, they are more willing to come and explore what the church has to offer than those in other groups. We pray for good spiritual grown in young believers in the churches and their involvement in ministry, that they will be not only believers but givers also. May the Lord call some of them to serve Him full time.
Thursday
With the influx of many college students and graduates, urban churches in China are definitely younger and better educated than before. It is a good thing that young believers prefer lively worship, sermons that are more relevant and practical. We pray that churches can provide for their needs, feed them with solid spiritual food and provide them great examples of faith.
Friday
Among the professionals in the urban churches in China, there are those who have returned from studying abroad, as well as well-educated local believers who have jobs with good incomes and are in a very respectable social position. Clearly, there is a huge disparity in education and income within urban churches. We pray that there will be no discrimination or favoritism in the Body of Christ, but rather there will be mutual caring and edification of all believers.
Saturday
China has sent 400,000 students to study abroad. Nearly 160,000 of them have returned and it is estimated that ten to twenty percent of them have come home Christians. Although this group is relatively small, they are very influential since they have had experience in churches abroad and are able to give larger offerings than local people. We pray these people will have humble hearts and be willing to serve.
Sunday
Another large group of believers in the urban churches in China is composed of middle-aged or older Christians, many of whom are retired. Most have a Christian family background and generally they are committed and devout Christians. We praise God for these believers who are literally the backbone of the church ministries in caring for others and in visitation. May the Lord grant them strength to help their pastors to care for those who are in need and weak.
Monday
Some of the believers in the urban churches of China are those who have visited their children abroad, have become Christians and were baptized there. When they return home, they usually look for a house church to attend. These people are usually very accomplished before they go abroad but need to learn Biblical truths. We pray for continuing spiritual growth in this group of believers. May the Lord use their experience abroad to help their churches in China.

Prayer Request 10/13 - 10/19
Tuesday
Ministries to college students have sprung up in the larger cities of China in recent years. Students, pastors, and the churches themselves have started them. We pray for fellowship and mutual support in these Bible studies as well as fellowship between the groups. Often because of theological differences, theses groups have no fellowship at all and even become outright hostile toward each other.
Wednesday
Leaders in the ministry to college students take great pride in having large groups. At the beginning of the school year they go to the freshmen dorms to find new students for their groups and try to find those who are already Christians so a good number of the newcomers in these ministries are Christians who have been ministered to by other churches for many years. May the Lord help us not to be prideful in counting numbers but rather, rejoice with all who serve the young people whether in churches or colleges.
Thursday
Nearly half of those who accept Jesus in the college ministries have had prior contact with the gospel. As a result, we can see that college ministries are literally a continuation of ministries of all the local churches. We pray specifically for the Christian college students from Christian homes. May the Lord give them godly friends and a fellowship/church so they can fit in well, especially those who are now serving as leaders in their college fellowship groups.
Friday
The legendary Chinese pastors, Wang Ming-dao and John Song both have roots in the college student ministry and it is fair to say that college student ministries have laid the foundation for today's overseas Chinese churches. Those leaders in college who have been trained and equipped will be the leaders of the church tomorrow. We pray for more people to get involved in this ministry and for more churches to devote resources to reaching these students for Christ.
Saturday
Sadly, many churches in China have no interest in reaching college students. They say, "The college ministry is an expense and they do not stay long term." It is little wonder that many college ministries find no support in local churches. We pray for more churches to catch the vision of being involved in a ministry to college students and then be revived themselves as they reach out to these young people. We truly believe that the students they raise up will be key leaders in the church in the future.
Sunday
In early September, college fellowship groups organize outreach teams to comb the dormitories for newly-arrived freshmen for their groups. It is not uncommon to have a "race to grab new students". We are thankful for the zeal young Christians have in reaching out to share the gospel with their fellow students and we pray they will find many souls hungry for the Lord.
Monday
In China, one has to 'buy' a doctor's effort to save lives.'' 'The goal is to bribe the physicians to perform the surgery to the best of their ability. Chinese love to give gifts, in the hope of currying favor or building relationship. We pray that churches will not despise the migrant workers, or in fact, all those believers without higher education, because they cannot really contribute to ministries, but rather accept and care about them with the love of God.

Prayer Request 10/6 - 1012
TuesdayThe Chinese Communist Party considers all religion capable of being organized and connected with outside powers to challenge its own authority to rule. Let us continue to pray for the churches in China because of the uncertain policy of the government toward them. May the Lord have mercy so that believers in Jesus are not seen as a threat to the government but as a positive influence.
Wednesday
China is extremely cautious in her approach toward any organized religions, because of the possible connection with religious entities abroad, creating and possessing untoward influence and control. “The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.” Prov. 21:1 (NIV) Let us pray for all levels of officials who are in charge of executing religious policies and actions. We pray for favor for believers in their eyes.
Thursday
The Chinese government has given up restricting religions, instead it grants believers a certain freedom of worship but still controls them with bureaucracies. However, the recent demolition of church building in Wenzhou shows how the government can apply restrictions whenever it wants to. We do thank the Lord for giving Christians more freedom, and we pray that churches will use these windows of opportunity to be His witness and spread the gospel.
Friday
Religion is not a high-priority issue for the Chinese government; it has its own long list of urgent matters. When Christians live out their lives as the light and salt of the world, they can exert a powerful influence in society, business and even in politics. As Christians become active and effective when the government allows, people will look to Christianity for answers. We pray churches will go into the “world”, living out the love of Christ and care for the needs of people in the community.
Saturday
Some churches in China , especially those in rural areas, are caught between following Biblical teaching and traditional practices. Some lack Biblical training and do not even reject customs that are not Biblical. We pray that rural pastors will know and teach the truth of the Bible, and honor God above all. May all pastors have wisdom, teaching their flocks how to honor God more than the traditions of man.
Sunday
Customs vary from region to region in China. When a parent dies, a pious son must kowtow so others will attend and help with funeral arrangements. In many places, funerals are held by a Taoist monk. Many Christians in China do not know whether to bury their parents with Christian rites or Taoist practice. We pray churches can always help their members know how to resolve these conflicts of Biblical teaching and local practices. We pray for a good testimony for all believers.
Monday
The divorce rate among Christians in China has shot up sharply reflecting that of society as a whole which creates single-parent families with neglected children and causes churches to lose a good opportunity to be a shining testimony for God. We pray for more marriage counselors. May the Lord help us to honor the sacred marriage covenant and may He help all pastors as they counsel believers not to give up quickly on their own marriages.

Prayer Request 9/29 - 10/5
TuesdayChinese house churches face many challenges, establish and implement reasonable compensation is on the foremost. Lacking such provision is the key reason impeding the growth of many house churches. We praise God for how so many house church’s pastor who are impoverished and still serve so faithfully. We pray that Chinese believers would stop demand their pastor must be poor in order to serve faithfully. The Lord cause us all to honor His servants by providing them well.
Wednesday
In the past, student ministry to Chinese students could be done only in China. Now, however, many college students from China are going to Taiwan on their own. We pray that churches on the island will grab this window of opportunity to share the gospel with the mainland students without even having to leave home. May the Lord stir up the fire of evangelism and use the churches in Taiwan as a channel of great blessings.
Thursday
In China every college student has a computer and is online all of the time. Internet is the most influential element for those in their twenties. Churches need to include the internet in their reaching out to the young people in China. There are indeed many people sharing their faith online so we pray for those who create these testimonies and the online-sharing. May the Lord use this content to draw people to seek and find out what the gospel is all about.
Friday
Seventy percent of the people on the internet in China are younger than 30 years old and they spend about three hours daily online. One hundred million more people access the internet via their hand phones. We pray that churches in China can reach out and serve the young people who seek to know more about the faith online, that they will give them support and provide a positive environment to make church a friendly place for them and their friends.
Saturday
College fellowships in big cities can be quite internationals, drawing Christians students from many countries, especially from South Korea. Some even meet in their own cafe, playing worship songs. We pray for these fellowship groups and their leaders, the Lord use them to attract more Chinese students. Although the local police know of their existence, we pray for their safety as they grow in numbers.
Sunday
Many of the Christian college students born after 1990 are quite bold, they sing and hands out church bulletins on the street, and pass out Bible on campus. Some of them even use social media to support churches that faced demolition, rising housing cost and corruption. Chinese churches are slow in accepting young people. We pray for churches in China as they learn to accept the young people and making some changes to welcome the young people. It is our prayer that young Christians will bring vitality and fresh outlook for many churches.
Monday
In China, middle class accounted for three-quarters of all the divorced couples. Extra-marital affair is the leading cause of divorces. In Shanghai, that rate is about 56%. Extra-marital affairs happen among Christian families, but scarcely few churches can really provide help or counselling. We pray for guarding of our hearts and fleeing from all temptations for all Christian couples.

Prayer Request 9/22 - 9/28
TuesdayThere are many pastors who are thirty years old in the churches in China and most of them are better trained theologically than their older counterparts. Although, young pastors have the Bible training and basic teaching skills, we need to pray for improvement and maturing of their leadership skill, and ability to work with people of different ages and walks.
Wednesday
Young pastors in China also face challenges later on in life when their become husbands/wives/parents because the churches demand so much of their time, it will be difficult to know how to balance both areas of life.May the Lord also prepare mentors for them, to help them grow spiritually and personally, nurturing them to be a new generation of church leaders。
Thursday
Widespread infiltration of cults and sects into the church in China has caused many believers to leave the churches. Cults and sects remain active despite official clampdown on them. The biggest is Eastern Lightning (aka Church of Almighty God) which often targets leaders. May the Lord have mercy on those believers who have fallen victim to the cults and help them to see through the deceit, bondage, and control in them. We pray the truth of Jesus Christ will set them free and give them true salvation in mind and soul.
Friday
In the rural regions of China, many pastors and believers are ignorant of or lack teaching in basic Biblical truths so they are easily swayed by the false doctrines spread by the cults. There is a dearth of spiritual resources so believers usually cannot tell what truth is. May the Lord bless believers with wisdom to help them identify the false teachings of the cults which deceive many and not to spread them.
Saturday
China’s aged population will reach 248 million by 2020. An official report states that 14 provinces could not pay the old age pensions owed to their senior citizens in 2011. That number has increased to 19 in 2012. Caring for the elderly in the churches of China is greatly needed and it cannot be shouldered by the pastor alone. We pray for more believers who will serve the elderly people in the churches. May the Lord remember them and richly reward their acts of love.
Sunday
There have been debates over the issue of delaying the mandatory retirement age of 55 in China. However, this would be complicated so now there are suggestions that the time for retirement be flexible and the policy tailored to each different sector. As the policy of respect for the elderly wanes, may the Lord teach young believers who have grown up under the "one-child policy" to support and look after their parents, not only financially but also to be a great Christian witness to them.
Monday
The people in the new Middle Class like to be fashionable but they do not feel they must wear limited editions of luxury outfits. Instead they feel that a clean and fresh hairstyle, healthy skin, and decent clothing are enough. They are environmentally conscious and involved in doing charitable works. Young professional families usually find that both spouses are busy executives trying to balance work, young children, and church. We pray for their marital relationship, guarding of their hearts from temptation of all kinds, and wisdom in rearing their children.

Prayer Request 9/15 - 9/21
TuesdayDespite apparent prosperity in China, there is a huge chasm between the rich and the poor and several hundred million people still live in poverty. These people live mainly in rural areas and especially in the arid regions of northwest China. Christians have benefitted from the economic boom as well as their frugal lifestyle and industriousness. We pray that the Lord will remind us that it is through His grace we enjoy the good lives we have and teach us that we should be His channel of blessing to others.
Wednesday
Unseen poverty is found alongside great wealth in cities of China--poor pensioners, the disabled, drug addicts, street children, and hordes of migrant workers live in slum areas in the suburbs of the big cities alongside the rich. Many churches in the cities of the East and in coastal provinces are very affluent. We pray these churches will be moved to support poor churches in the villages and become involved in reaching out to the poor in and near their cities.
Thursday
Mission planners face the huge challenge in how to evangelize the over one hundred million ethnic minorities who live in the western half of China. Han Chinese are now allowed to travel to previously inaccessible exotic regions such as Tibet and Xinjiang. Many churches have little interest in reaching out to the minorities. We pray that God will remove the apathy, prejudices, and feeling of superiority which still exist among so many Han Chinese believers and help them to be grieved over the untold millions of lost souls.
Friday
Due to the poor and inadequate living conditions found in those areas, there are truly very few Han Chinese who are willing to live humbly among ethnic minorities. Christians in China often speak in hyperbole and express lofty goals but they are unwilling to fulfill them. We pray that more Christians will begin to care for these people and share the gospel with the ethnic minorities who live near them.
Saturday
Many of the would-be missionaries from China who were planning to evangelize in Muslim countries in Central Asia and the Middle East have returned home. The key reasons for their failure to persevere are lack of adequate preparation and training as well as unrealistic goals. We lift up in prayer all those disappointed and disillusioned people and their sending churches. May the Lord comfort and renew them so they will not be bitter toward anyone but will continue to serve in their own churches.
Sunday
The vision of ‘Back to Jerusalem’ in its many forms did provide a powerful cause to encourage churches to pray, and to train Chinese missionaries. However, there are still many formidable barriers for churches in China to realize the fruit of cross-cultural missions. Ethnocentrism and pride are major hindrances to missionary efforts. We pray that churches in China will humble themselves, be willing to learn the languages and culture of other countries, and above all, to humbly learn and partner with western churches.
Monday
Perhaps with proper training and practical on-the-field experience gained from working with Muslims, Tibetans or other minorities inside China, Chinese missionaries can be more effective and more adapt in sending out missionaries to other countries. We pray that more churches in China will preach about missions and prepare their young people for missionary work. May the Lord give young believers good models of dedication and service in the churches and may many of them be inspired to be missionaries.

Prayer Request 9/8 - 9/14
TuesdayChina has a large film industry and the second-biggest box office in the world, but few people outside the country have ever watched a movie released from China. We pray for wisdom for all believers, especially the young ones, so they can discern the hidden messages and unbiblical value system in all the media we are exposed to everyday.
Wednesday
When a movie is made in China, film censorship rules dictate that crime stories must be free of crime, ghost tales cannot show ghosts and Chinese corrupt politicians can’t be crooked. The Chinese government is extremely sensitive about how the nation is portrayed. We can say Chinese entertainment is clean, but we all know how corrupt Chinese society is. We pray for guarding of hearts of all believers, so we will not only have a religious façade but rather a clean spirit.
Thursday
No one can start making a film in China without submitting the plot to the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SGAPPRFT), an agency that controls media but is best known (and feared) as a committee of censorship. Many good Christian contents, books and movies are unable to receive official approval and be available openly. We pray for more content for personal devotion, Bible study tools and commentaries for believers in China.
Friday
Movies with sex scenes or depictions of “excessive drinking, smoking and other bad habits” are forbidden in China. Any content that is “propagating passive or negative outlook on life, worldview and the value system” is also banned. Obviously, people in China have access to all kinds of pornographic and violent material despite the bans. We pray for Christian parents who are concerned about how this will affect their children. May the Lord give them a good parent-child relationship so they can express their care and concern.
Saturday
China will censor or reject the storyline of a movie for being "unscientific" because it features time travel. It automatically bans any "historical untruth" which often means presenting past events inconsistently according to the official version of Chinese history.Officials in China are suspicious of Christianity because it has too much foreign influence and connection with the outside. We pray that churches will have a wonderful testimony in their communities, living out the love of Jesus, and dispelling the image that Christianity is a foreign religion.
Sunday
In any movies released in China, the bad guy cannot be Chinese. Any crime movie must not be initiated within China’s borders. All Chinese policemen and soldiers must be good guys. Government employees may never be corrupt and there are no prostitutes in China. The Bible says that we are all sinners. May the Spirit of God always convict us so that we do not become conceited thinking we are better than others.
Monday
At least half of the movies shown in Hong Kong now are produced in in co-operation with China, so they are subject to the rules China imposes on them. Because of this, Hong Kong makes only "Kung Fu" films or uses stories that took place before 1949. Recently Christians in Hong Kong were divided into pro-Beijing, pro-democracy, and neutral camps. We pray for unity of the churches in Hong Kong and that mission agencies would not lose their passion to help churches inside China.

Prayer Request 9/1 - 9/7
TuesdaySome of the biggest victims of the stock market crash have been ordinary Chinese people. Two thirds of new investors in the Chinese stock market didn't complete high school. Many have bought stocks with borrowed money. Greed makes people do irrational things and even Christians fall prey to this same predicaments. We pray that this stock market crash will wake them up. We are reminded of the word from Colossians 3:5--"Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world."
Wednesday
The Chinese stock market has slumped dramatically recently, taking down many investors including many Christians. The attitude of the investors has been wanting to get rich quickly rather than disciplined investing. Greedy people try to get rich quickly but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty. (Proverbs 28:22) May the Lord enlighten and search our hearts to see if we have been blinded by our greed.
Thursday
In China this year 7.49 million people graduated from college--an increase over the 7.27 million in 2014 and 6.99 million in 2013. Every year these grads face fierce competition to land a job. College education no longer guarantees a good paying job for young people in China. We pray for those college graduates who are Christians and are still looking for work. May the Lord give them faith and keep them walking close to Him.
Friday
Although house churches have grown remarkably in the past four decades, they have now entered a crucial period where they need to define their own theology, their approach to pastoral care, and their method of governing the church. Many are now turning to denominations to find answers since personal interpretation of the Bible along with leaders who are not held accountable open the churches to abuses. We pray especially for believers in groups under these charismatic leaders . May the Lord grant them discernment and genuine, vibrant spiritual growth.
Saturday
Essentially, each person in a house church believes what the leader teaches which often leads to an over- emphasis on personal gifts, charisma, and authority. Members of house churches desire more inter-church fellowship but prefer not to have the simplified statements of faith held by denominations. Many members of these churches are now educated and have become professionals so they are less likely to accept the "iron fist" management style of their pastor. We pray for unity in the church and also humility for both leaders and pastors along with the young members who attend.
Sunday
People in the house churches often debate about the need to join a denomination and wonder if that would be good or bad for evangelism, church planting, and the united effort to send out missionaries from the churches of China. They question whether denominations have their place in China. We thank the Lord for denominations because they have poured a tremendous amount of resources and manpower into helping house churches. We pray for God's will to be done in the churches in China. May the name of Jesus be glorified and may there be true unity and humility in each of the churches there.
Monday
In the Three-self Church in Jiangxi Province there are two sessions of the so-called "chairman" and half of the presidents are women which gives them a ministry in the church. The saying is that the women are "half the sky" which gives effective strength to the ministry and develops positive factors not only in Jiangxi but in other places as well. We pray for all of the grandmothers, mothers and unmarried young ladies that God will help them to be lively spiritual models and gain spiritual strength from God's word to teach other believers and be a blessing to the church.

Prayer Request 8/25 - 8/31
TuesdayDuring the Maoist era in China, all religion including Buddhism was repressed but a growing number of people are discovering the dormant traditions of Buddhism. We praise God for the increased numbers of Christian believers in the past but the sheer number of those forever lost is astounding! May the Lord press upon us the burden to spread the gospel and see souls saved rather than reveling merely in a large attendance in the churches.
Wednesday
In China, some people discover Buddhism while they are in a university where Buddhist groups are active and famous monks and lamas give lectures. Others have devout Buddhist parents and grandparents and are introduced to it early. Bible study groups, unlike the Buddhist groups are frequently monitored and suppressed. We lift up those who lead and participate in campus fellowships. May the Lord add to them courage and faith so they clearly know the Christ they believe in and serve.
Thursday
The government in Zhejiang embarked on a three-year campaign to rebuild old residential areas there--old factories and the center of the city. This aggressive project has included tearing down many churches and the crosses associated with them. Although many churches lost the crosses on them, we pray the Lord will comfort the people and help them to move forward in their ministries knowing they can still have a powerful witness to show how believers live out the meaning of the cross.
Friday
Some churches in China that had a proper building permit were destroyed in the wake of the province-wide demolition in Wenzhou. However, this project of tearing down the crosses was not limited to Wenzhou. We pray that this kind of thing does not spread further. We pray for wisdom and courage for the church leaders is Zhejiang and that they will know how to negotiate with the officials.
Saturday
The latest episode in the government’s attack on Christian churches in Wenzhou is the drafting of regulations outlining precise limits on the size and location of religious buildings and the size and placement of crosses. The majority of house churches do not have visible signs announcing their presence. We pray for safety and harmony with their neighbors for them as well as effective evangelism even though they have to keep a low profile.
Sunday
The new regulations on the building of religious structures in China highlight the arbitrary nature which lacks a clear definition and explanation with which officials in China deal with the church. National and even local regulations and policies for churches can change overnight so we pray for wisdom for all churches to be able to enjoy favor with God and the goodwill of the officials as they continue to expand their ministries.
Monday
One pastor in Zhejiang wondered why the government regulations apply to only Christian places of worship and also why the standards are different for Protestant churches from those of the Catholic churches. He appealed for fairness in dealing with religion. Having a good relationship and knowing how to deal with the local officials is a must for churches in China. We pray for wisdom and a great personal testimony for all who must interact with the local officials on behalf of the churches.

Prayer Request 8/18 - 8/24
TuesdayThe phenomenon of public dancing can be found across China. Participants are typically older women but also some men and younger people, they gather in public squares and parks and perform synchronized dances to blaring music. Many believers are retired but still very agile and available to serve other than babysitting grandchildren. We pray for them, especially the sisters who often shoulder the caring ministry of their churches. May the Lord use them to be a great blessing.
Wednesday
Officials insist that the Chinese public wants “healthy, watchable, scientific and wide-ranging” dancing. To that end, an expert panel has developed 12 model routines that will be taught nationwide by instructors who have received official training. In China, the government is involved in every aspect of the lives of the citizens. We pray for God's guidance in the growth of churches, especially those that are unregistered. May the Lord protect them all and keep them from being swept away by materialism.
Thursday
The dancing in China has provoked a backlash with people in the neighborhood complaining particularly about the noise. Sometimes the opposition has even turned ugly so the government has had to regulate open-air fitness dancing due to the public complaints filed against it. Many urban churches occupy an apartment in a residential building. We pray for good neighborly relationships for them, especially as churches tend to have lots of traffic in and out, noise from worship and intervention of police.
Friday
Square-dancing represents the collective aspect of Chinese culture. The early morning and evening gatherings are meant to be a way to exercise and socialize. Believers also have a need for entertainment and socializing as a normal component of a healthy lifestyle. We pray for the holistic well-being of all believers in China so they can have a good testimony and influence on their friends and not be merely addicted to television and the internet.
Saturday
Responding to calls by President Xi Jinping to rein in corruption in China, Shanghai has enacted strict rules to keep the spouses and children of top local officials from entering private business and profiting from their government connections. Shanghai, with more than 23 million in population is the seat of Three-Self churches. We pray for all the administrators, pastors and volunteers under this umbrella, that the Lord will grant them faithfulness, integrity and dedication to serve the Master.
Sunday
In many instances where there was a crackdown on corruption, the vast fortunes that were uncovered were listed in the name of relatives or offspring of the officials rather than in the names of the officials themselves. Many of the believers in China are reluctant to give offerings in church because they do not know how the funds will be used. We pray for God's mercy for all church leaders that they will know how to help believers overcome that kind of hesitation and allow more people to serve in crucial roles.
Monday
Only Shanghai officials are restricted from doing business in the city, but families of officials from outside of Shanghai can still conduct business there, and the children of top Shanghai officials are free to go into business outside the city. Some churches are literally family-run, so they seriously undermine people’s confidence in their leaders. We pray for the Spirit of God to convict any who treat God’s churches as a family enterprise, or refuse to include people who are not related to them.
